MLB's approach to handling Coronavirus

The MLB, just like many other major sports organizations was faced with a huge dilemma when the coronavirus pandemic started back in March. They had to scramble to figure out what to do as their season started in the near future. As we take a look back they were able to put together a successful season that wrapped up about a month ago.

From the start, there were many critics who said that the MLB could never have a successful season or keep players safe unless they incorporated a "bubble" method. However, contrary to this the MLB decided to pass on doing a "bubble" for their players and instead keep them in their respective cities. They incorporated major testing and tried to keep them socially distanced.

The first week of the season when two teams went out with covid outbreaks there wasn't much hope and the commissioner even considered canceling the season right then and there. However, the decision to let them play paid off as there ended up being a successful season.

I think this was a good move for the players and all of the fans of professional sports, it allowed for sports to be played in a safe environment and gave us something to watch. With baseball being an outdoor sport, it was easier to keep covid contained while they played. One major question that looms is what will happen if other indoor sports decide to pass on the "bubble" method as well? Outdoor sports may have a better chance of keeping numbers down but what will other sports like basketball or hockey look like? I'm excited to see what is in store for the coming year for professional sports and what certain leagues will do to protect their players.
